If you are formatting your device then there are higher chances that your data can be recovered in a very easy way at the cost of a penny. Even if you are deleting anything from your device then it is never completely deleted from your memory, it is always there only the indexing is deleted.

So it very necessary for you to delete your device data completely before selling it to any stranger, otherwise there are very higher chances of getting your data misused.

Before you format your device, make sure you encrypt all the data on your system, then go for regular formatting or resetting, make sure you should encrypt all the data properly before formatting, this will make your data near to impossible to retrieve after formatting. You should repeat this process few more time for self satisfaction.

How encryption and formatting works:--

Basically when you encrypt your data, it makes your data impossible to identified without encryption key, and when you format your device you delete all the indexes of the existing files, which can retrieve your data but in encrypted format, which is a complete waste because it is not in the proper format. which means that data is of no use, in this way you can save your data from being misused.

You can encrypt your data from settings, in settings search encryption, check your encryption state, if it is encrypted then only format it.(formatting your device will delete all your data).
