Is 5 GHz wifi is better than 2.4 GHz?

Konnichiwa viewers! In the world full of swipes and double tap, the only thing we need is an internet to connect us to the world outside. Many of us use wifi and may have came across the terms like 5GHz and 2.4GHz. They may sound very techy, but believe me it is not.. You need not to be a Phd holder to understand these terms, just go through this blog.. XD..

To understand which band is better you need to know which band do what..

Do 5GHz bands provide better speed than 2.4GHz?

Yes! The bandwidth of 5GHz band is far better than that of 2.4GHz. 2.4GHz band is slower than the 5Ghz band. because the frequencies are higher in 5GHz band.
For example if you have a 150mbps connection then you'll get only 50 to 60 mbps in 2.4GHz band. But full in 5GHz band.

Do 5GHz have better range than 2.4GHz band?

No! The 5GHz bands sucks when it come to range, they are terrible at long range. They are not even close to 2.4GHz bands in terms of range. If you really want to enjoy 5GHz band then you have to sit really close to your router. But if your router is a bit far from you then you have to connect to your 2.4GHz band. The 2.4GHz band has rally very good range. This happens because frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength, The 5GHz bands have higher frequency to transmit data at higher speed that is why they have lower bandwidth result in lower connection range.

The main question, Is 5GHz is better than 2.4GHz?

So if you have read the above paragraphs then you have understood that which one do what.
It is not the matter of which is better, it is more about what you are looking for, because neither of them is perfect. 5GHz have better speed but bad range and 2.4 GHz have bad speed but good range, so you have to use both according to your needs.
So basically don't slip over the higher values, just go through your needs.

How to check if my router have 5GHz band or not?

most of the modern routers comes with dual band wifi, it is generally written on the box of your router or the user manual. Also your device also should have a dual band wifi receiver otherwise it will not detect the 5GHz band.

This was it for this blog, hope you guys like it, otherwise feel free to comment down below... Arigato..
