Why flagship phones are costly?

Those fatty bulky specsheets of most of the smartphone companies are admired by everyone, but your wallet never allowed you to go for it, right? Then hey your question is right, why are they this much pricy, That's why we're here to find out.

There are four types of smartphones a smartphone company make:--

  1. The budget phones- The least profitable smartphone for the company, They have the basic requirements to fulfil for the smartphone.
  2. The midranger- The most value for the money product for the consumers, these are basically the renewed version of the flagship smartphones of the previous generation, So they are the best out of all the four.
  3. The flaghships- These contains the exclusive features which the company has tested successfully over the experimental phones. These are the phones which are designed to keep the interest of its elite customers in mind. So they are specifically targeted over the elite class of the society, this is one of the reasons they are costly.
  4. The Experimental phones- These are the phones which are just sold with the intention to test a new feature on the population, these smartphones are not intended to increase company sales but to test its new research, in certain fields.
The flagship smartphones are made by the company for a very targeted Audience in a very hyped manner. They are the almost near to the perfect because company has to spent a lot of sum on its Research and Development, and the flagships shows the status of the company. A company is known by its flagship product, so no company want to risk their name by cutting on their flagship products.

Reasons why flagship smartphones are costly.

The hardware used.

As we have mentioned that the company's flagship determine the status of the company, so the company never cut its budget and use the best available hardware of the present time, so that their device are fulfilled with the latest feature of its time and not lagging behind the other phones.
For example, if we compare the camera sensor, it is very rare to see the two exact camera sensor in two different generation of the flagships, or if they do then there is a huge difference in their user interface.

The trust

The trust is something which cannot let the users to switch to the other company, the company build their trust over years and years working in that field, and once the trust is built then it does not matter if the product is a bit more than the other competitor in the market, the users can spend more if they have the trust in the company.

The targeted audience.

The company know that there are some sections which can easily spend on the smartphones without bothering about the price. So they makeup their profit by increasing the price, It will not effect them if the units sold are less.

To cover up the cost of research and development

The company make their flagship for the elite people, so they don't want their device to be lagged in terms of comfort. So they spend a huge amount in the research and development field, in the design, in the comfort. They can't overlook those thing in the product which define the name of the company.

To cover up the cost of the advertisement.

The company advertises their flagship products almost every where, and it require a huge sum of money, and where the money comes from? Of course, from the consumer's pocket.

So basically the flagship products are not at all the value for the money products but they are something for the luxury, The price increase is not like the increased features if we compare it with the midrange smartphones.
