Why smartphones stop getting software updates.

Smartphones are not something which someone buy every year, atleast for most of the people the scenario is same. In some cases we also bought the new smartphone because it is no longer serving the purpose of keeping you updated. after atmost 2 years, most of the smartphones stop getting the updates by the providers, and many functionality is no longer available. So why do the companies stop providing updates after the certain course of the time.

Why smartphones stop getting software updates.

They will loose their own customers

As many people upgrade their smartphone to use the latest features which has come to the market over the time. But if the companies started to provide the updates their old customers then they will not upgrade until their smartphones completely die. Due to this the companies have to tackle a huge loss.

More workforce is required.

If the companies have to  provide life time updates to their phones then they'll have to hire a never ending workforce which will be providing updates to each and every smartphones they have launched. This will cost more to the company because they are paying to the employees for giving updates to the older smartphones which may be used by only a fewer no. of peoples.

Less efficient as they are serving to lesser no. of people.

After three to four years, the user base of a particular smartphone shrink to 10 to 20 percent, they may switch to another newer variants so still sending the updates to only 10 percent smartphones is not very feasible.

Not easy to track bugs.

If the companies have to give software updates to the older smartphones, it will be very difficult to and unstable to provide the updates because in terms of the softwares the world is developing every second, and providing newer data to the older hardwares will be a bit buggy and glitchy.

Affect on the newer smartophones.

If the companies spend their resources on the older smartphones then the newer smartphones will get affected, which will affect the reputation of the company, and no company want their reputation to be faded.
